The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world's largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. Virginia State University’s IEEE student branch (VSU-SB) welcomes all STEM majors and strives hard to keep students encouraged to continue their education within their respective fields. This academic organization benefits students by allowing resources for professional development within the reach of engineering students.

Over the years, IEEE VSU-SB has created many networking, recognition, research, career, and funding opportunities for its members and the VSU engineering students. Some examples of these efforts include arranging plant tours, inviting speakers, participating in professional competitions, presenting at conferences, partaking in outreach activities, to name a few.

There are a number of officer positions available in VSU-SB for those who seek leadership skills. Officers are elected annually in September.
